Deep Listening: Best Leadership Practice
Is management engagement helpful if listening, the best leadership practice is absent?
I recently polled asking if management walking the floor contributed to safety. We got 22 strong yes! and 20 "it depends. Then a 2021 study finds a negative correlation between management engagement and safety performance. See poll comments here and see analysis here.
Something that does correlate to improved performance overall including safety is listening to the people we work with. When Nippin Anand and I talked about deep listening on his podcast, he shared powerful stories about listening. This article includes our thoughts and approach to deep listening.
